Delay-Tolerant Networking Bundle Protocol IANA Registries
نویسنده
چکیده
The Delay-Tolerant Networking (DTN) Research Group research group has defined many protocols such as the Bundle Protocol and Licklider Transmission Protocol. The specifications of these protocols contain fields that are subject to a registry. For the purpose of its research work, the group created ad hoc registries. As the specifications are stable and have multiple interoperable implementations, the group would like to hand off the registries to IANA for official custody. This document describes the actions executed by IANA. Documents approved for publication by the IRSG are not a candidate for any level of Internet Standard; see Section 2 of RFC 5741. Assessing and improving an approach to delay-tolerant networking
Delay-tolerant networking (DTN) is a term invented to describe and encompass all types of long-delay, disconnected, disrupted or intermittently-connected networks, where mobility and outages or scheduled contacts may be experienced. ‘DTN’ is also used to refer to the Bundle Protocol, which has been proposed as the one unifying solution for disparate DTN networking scenarios, after originally be...

This document describes the end-to-end protocol, block formats, and abstract service description for the exchange of messages (bundles) in Delay Tolerant Networking (DTN). This document was produced within the IRTF’s Delay Tolerant Networking Research Group (DTNRG) and represents the consensus of all of the active contributors to this group. متن کاملLicklider Transmission Protocol (LTP), Compressed Bundle Header Encoding (CBHE), and Bundle Protocol IANA Registries
The DTNRG Research Group has defined the experimental Licklider Transmission Protocol (LTP) and the Compressed Bundle Header Encoding (CBHE) mechanism for the InterPlanetary Network ('ipn' URI scheme). Moreover, RFC 5050 defines values for the Bundle Protocol administrative record type. All of these fields are subject to a registry. For the purpose of its research work, the group has created ad...
متن کاملSome comments on Delay-Tolerant Networking for Space Communications (draft version)
We review and evaluate the main goals and requirements for Delay-Tolerant Networking, as well as the functionalities provided by the newly standardized Bundle Protocol. We identify and discuss a number of open issues, which pertain to the operational properties of the Bundle Protocol for Delay/Disruption-Tolerant Networking. Key issues that we attempt to adress are (i) the type of DTN architect...
متن کاملRfc 6258 Dtn
This document defines an extension block that may be used with the Delay-Tolerant Networking (DTN) Bundle Protocol. This Metadata Extension Block is designed to carry additional information that DTN nodes can use to make processing decisions regarding bundles, such as deciding whether to store a bundle or determining to which nodes to forward a bundle. The metadata that is carried in a metadata...
